2017 Virginia House of Delegates
The Candidate Support Team, in conjunction with our sister group Red2Blue, assisted ten Democratic candidates in the 2017 Virginia House of Delegates elections. We focused on districts that national Democratic organizations were not actively supporting, but that had engaged candidates running energetic campaigns. Below is information about five of the campaigns we supported.
Sheila Bynum-Colman was the Democratic candidate for office in District 62. She lost narrowly to an entrenched, 26-year incumbent, winning 48 percent of the vote and bringing an additional 6,500 democrats to the polls on election day. We assisted the campaign by creating pamphlets and commit cards, editing video and providing leaflet and website copy.
Dawn Adams was the Democratic candidate for office in District 68. She defeated a four-term opponent. Our team assisted the campaign by creating infographics and editing videos.
Flourette Ketner was the Democratic candidate for office in District 7. Despite running against an incumbent who hadn't faced a challenger in the previous election, she received over 36 percent of the vote. We assisted the campaign by creating her website.
Brent Finnegan was the Democratic candidate for office in District 26. The first Democrat to run for the seat since the early 2000s, Brent won 45 percent of the vote. We assisted the campaign by editing videos.
